Balance Exercises May Reduce Your Risk of Falling

December 12, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), every year more than one in four people over the age of 65 suffer from a fall, and many of those accidents require a trip to the emergency department.  In addition to serious injuries, some falls even result in death.  To help mitigate the risk, experts recommend that along with safety modifications to the home that elderly adults also do balance exercises.

Balance exercises are relatively easy-to-do and can improve both your balance as well as increase lower body strength.  Ask your doctor for some suggestions or take a look at the Internet. Most do not require special equipment other than someone to assist you if needed.  The exercises can be done throughout the day and each one only takes a few minutes to do.

One example of a balance exercise is called Tightrope Walk.  This easy exercise improves balance, posture, and core strength.  Start in a standing position and lift your arms extending them out to your sides.  Now walk in a straight line keeping your gaze focused on a fixed point in the distance.  Each time you raise your foot, pause with it in the raised position for 2 to 3 seconds.  Alternating your feet, continue for 20 to 30 steps.

Another exercise is Rock the Boat, which starts by standing with your feet hip-distance apart and extending your arms out to your sides.  Lift your left foot off the floor and bend your knee to bring your heel toward your bottom holding it there for up to 30 seconds.  Now do the same with the other side.  Do each side 3 times.

At MorningStar Assisted Living and Memory Care at Mountain Shadows, we understand the importance of our resident’s living life to the fullest.  This is why we offer a Life Enrichment program that focuses on creative ways to stay physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually active.  Please see our website for more information about our beautiful community in Colorado Springs.

This post is intended for informational purposes only.  Before beginning any exercises, please consult with your health care provider.

Adding Beans to Your Diet May Help You Live to 100

December 09, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

When we look at cultures with a reputation for longevity, leading nutritionists and food scientists say there is one food group that stands out. “Blue zones,” areas known for having many of their inhabitants live to an advanced age of hundred years or more, include in their diet, five of the ten most recommended foods. All are from the bean family and include lentils, soybeans, peanuts (a legume in the same family as peas and lentils), chickpeas and black beans.

People living on the Japanese island of Okinawa might enjoy a dinner of stir-fried green beans, soybeans or mung sprouts. Another meal in Nicoya, Costa Rico typically includes black beans. Known for a high level of anthocyanins, a pigment that gives red, purple, and blue plants their rich coloring, beans help fight free radicals and offer anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-cancer benefits. In fact, anthocyanins offer 10 times the antioxidants of an equivalent serving of oranges.

Nutritionists say beans also boost the immune system by supplying the fiber our microbiomes need. They suggest the local diet of people in blue zones help them avoid many of the same health risks Americans suffer from such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and cancers.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, we offer residents a lifestyle in which to comfortably and safely age in place with a range of hospitality and care services, luxury amenities and a complement of wellness programs and activities. MorningStar at Mountain Shadows Offers Individualized Memory Care

December 07, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar community offers 19 memory care suites for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our care services are extensive, and we provide a wide range of amenities, wellness programs and activities.

MorningStar of Mountain Shadows’ memory care revolves around comforting and caring for our most tender residents from the onset of the disease to the most advanced stages. We start with a physical space designed to enhance residents’ quality of life with safe, inviting common areas encouraging independence. Residents stay active with a gentle flow of activities including art, dance, physical exercise, special events, and scheduled outings.

Once a resident joins our MorningStar family, we sit down with them and their family to get to know as much as we can about them including their history, vocation, talents, and preferences. From there we create a daily routine designed to stimulate or calm as a situation requires. Residents are also treated to tempting meals consisting of finger foods and family-style dining for a stress-free, companionable dining experience.

As dementia care specialists, our approach and philosophy to memory care is encompassed under the expanse of possibilities we call “Lavender Sky.”  Our program provides us with an insightful and intentional way to support the memory-impaired and their families.  All team members, regardless of their position, receive Lavender Sky training, which includes a deeper understanding of the disease and communication techniques to use with memory-impaired residents.  It also includes training in environmental safety and security as well as holistic solutions to challenging behaviors.  Additionally, our devoted team feels privileged to value, and understands every person deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

The Use of Pet Therapy for Dementia Patients

December 05, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

Pet therapy (also known as animal-assisted therapy) is used for those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia as a way to alleviate feelings of boredom, loneliness and helpless. Dr. William Thomas, a Harvard trained geriatrician and author of “The Eden Alternative,” said bringing in children, plants and animals helps to invigorate long-term care by “incorporating companionship, a sense of purpose, variety and spontaneity into the day-to-day experience of aged care residents.”

While studies show therapy dogs and other animals are useful in stimulating social interaction and easing agitation in dementia patients, experts say it should be done with specially trained pets to get the most benefit. Moreover, the animal should be matched to the setting as well as to the person. Pet therapists say dogs are generally the easiest to train as they are comfortable interacting with a variety of people.

The benefits of animal therapy to dementia patients include the unconditional love and acceptance animals freely give out as well as the physical touch from the pet contact. Also, these relationships do not require much in the way of communication skills, which are often difficult for someone with Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers say other benefits of pet therapy include an increase in physical activity and an unexpected improvement in a person’s appetite after a visit from an animal as well as an overall calming effect.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows provides compassionate, loving memory care for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  Our unique approach to memory care is designed to nurture, support and respect the essence of the individual regardless of the level of memory loss.  By leveraging the power of art, music, dance, and aromatherapy as well as animals, we strive to heal and comfort our most tender residents.  Please visit our website for more information.

Good Nutrition is Especially Important to the Wellbeing of Seniors

November 18, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living Facility

The government first published nutritional recommendations in 1941, which became known as the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDAs).  At the time, recommendations were more concerned with ensuring the population “as a whole was adequately fed and free from scurvy, rickets and other wartime diseases of malnutrition.”  These early guidelines did not address long-term issues such as heart disease and diabetes.

Since then, we have learned we need to focus on maintaining good nutritional habits well into our senior years to avoid or mitigate our risk for chronic diseases.  One example is type 2 diabetes, which occurs when the body’s muscle, fat and liver cells stop responding well to insulin resulting in consistently high blood sugar.  Doctors say type 2 diabetes can be caused by too much sugar and refined-carbohydrates in our diet, and to lessen our risk, we should maintain a healthy weight and minimize blood-sugar spikes as well as add more fiber to our diet.

Another thing an older adult should be aware of is muscle loss.  Along with resistance training, weightlifting, Pilates, and yoga, nutritionists say to maintain strength we need to include protein in our diet.  Christine Ritchie, director of research for the division of palliative care and geriatric medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, says older adults’ diet should include more protein than when they were younger.  A man in his 50s needs “about 25 to 30 grams at each meal (like a medium chicken breast or burger, a 5-ounce can of tuna mixed with mayo, 2 cups of cooked rice and beans, or a cup of low-fat cottage cheese).”

Government dietary guidelines report that we burn approximately 200 fewer daily calories after age 50, so if you keep eating like you did in your thirties or forties, you will probably gain weight.  Also, as bone loss starts sometime in our early thirties and continues into old age, seniors should consume foods with calcium and vitamin D. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recommends 1,200 milligrams a day of calcium for women and 1,000 mg for men.  Additionally, eat fruits and vegetables in a bright range of colors for heart-protecting antioxidants.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, we recognize that good nutrition is especially important to the wellbeing of seniors. Our meals are prepared largely from scratch and feature the freshest ingredients from high-quality producers, locally sourced when possible.  Our beautiful home offers 45 stylish suites for assisted living and another 19 suites devoted to the individualized care of residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases. Please contact us or visit our website to see what sets our community apart from other senior living in Colorado Springs and why MorningStar is such a great place to call home.

Decorate Your Assisted Living Suite to Improve Happiness and Functionality

November 18, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

We all know that life changes can be fraught with anxiety and fear and moving into assisted living is certainly a major change for many seniors.  However, experts say there are several things families can do to help ease the transition period.

One of those things is to help your loved one make a comfortable home in their new suite.  Julia Bailey, a senior associate and interior design project manager with Denver-based OZ Architecture, explains that, "Moving into assisted living often can feel like a loss of independence and privacy for your loved one, but thoughtful interior design can go a long way toward improving happiness and well-being for the resident, as well as improving overall functionality of the new living space."

Ms. Bailey cautions that you need to remember to let your loved one have a say in how their new home will be decorated including the personal mementos and photos they want to bring with them and which ones they want to display.  Triggering happy memories with sentimental items is a big step toward making their new place a real home.  Also, accent pillows and pictures are an easy way to add a lot of color and attractiveness to their place.

Please keep in mind safety concerns when placing furniture and avoid using area rugs that can become trip hazards or overcrowding a room and not leaving enough space to easily navigate.  Install hand rails where needed and make sure there is easily accessible lighting in the bathrooms and hallways if the person is getting up at night.

Helping your loved one stay organized can improve the home’s safety as well as the aesthetic.  Consider any mobility issues the person may have and make sure frequently used items are within easy reach on a shelf.  Chairs and sofas should be firm and stable.

MorningStar of Wheat Ridge offers residents a lifestyle of comfort, wellness and community.  We have 45 private suites for assisted living and another 19 secure memory care suites for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  The stylish floor plans of our spacious suites are well-appointed and all that is missing are your own furnishings and personal items.  Also, you will not need to leave behind your furry friend – yes, we are pet friendly!

MorningStar takes tremendous pride in the reputation we have earned for excellence and authenticity since our inception in 2003.  We believe the human capacity to grow, to learn and to contribute is ageless; and we act upon that truth daily, as we care for, inspire, and love the residents under our roof. What Are Your Assisted Living Options?

November 16, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Assisted Living is a senior living arrangement that lends a helping hand to seniors who may be struggling to complete or maintain everyday activities. Many of the seniors in assisted living communities still have the ability to promote and advocate for their own freedom and independence. Seniors thrive in Assisted Living accommodations that help with a medication regime, coordinating appointments, and offering support with daily activities. Assisted Living also offers 24-hour care in case of emergencies. Within its communities, MorningStar senior living Des Moines offers Assisted Living with support at various levels. Around-the-clock Care Managers are on site and at the ready to ensure your comfort and safety as they meet your expressed (and unexpressed) needs.

If you are considering assisted living in Des Moines for yourself or a family member, take the time to consider what services are needed. Upon meeting with a care manager at MorningStar Senior Living Des Moines, Iowa, we will ask a series of questions to create the level of care best suited for the individual. Questions like, what daily activities you need help with, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, remembering medications. Also, consider how often help required with those activities.

At MorningStar Assisted Living Des Moines, couples can continue to live together in Assisted Living. Couples can live together in their own suites in Assisted Living, surrounded by their own treasured possessions. Alternatively, suites can be shared by friends who simply enjoy one another’s company. This is a great option for seniors who are most comfortable living with someone they know and trust. Living with a trustworthy companion in assisted living helps to keep an eye on one another. A companion can also update care managers and nurses within their senior living facility if routines or completion with activities begin to change. Those closest to us have the ability to pick up on things quicker than others sometimes!

Are You Noticing Bumps or Bruises on Your Loved One?

November 16, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Is your loved one or older family member starting to show signs of bruising and small scrapes or cuts? These mishaps can be signs that your loved one is having trouble with balance and physical ability and may be cause to investigate for other symptoms of dementia. Falls aren't an inevitable part of living with dementia; however, some symptoms can make people with dementia more at risk of falling or injuring themselves. Memory loss often causes individuals to be distracted or confused, which in turn leads to clumsiness and lack of caution. If you’re in need of memory care in Littleton, MorningStar Assisted Living offers holistic memory care options focused on safety, happiness, and individuality.

Falls or small scrapes may not be an immediate cause for concern. However, a simple fall can result in hip fractures, traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, and much more. If a senior with suspected memory loss problems is still driving or operating machinery, their risk for danger is heightened. Dementia or Alzheimer’s may impact a senior’s vision, hearing, and reflexes and can lead to unsafe driving. If your loved one is experiencing frequent accidents, traffic tickets, anxiety about driving, or unexplained dents or scratches on their car, it’s time to talk.

MorningStar focuses on holistic dementia and Alzheimer’s care that is dedicated to helping residents affected by memory loss. Anyone Living with Alzheimer's Disease is at Risk of Wandering

November 16, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

The Alzheimer’s Association says that six in 10 people with dementia will wander.  The danger with this is someone with Alzheimer’s disease may not remember their name, their address or how to get home.  Furthermore, the more agitated the person becomes when they feel lost and disorientated, the less able they may be to tell someone something that could help get them safely back home.

Experts say anyone suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia that is mobile is at risk for wandering.  Even if the person is in the early stages of the disease, they may still get disorientated; but thankfully there are strategies to help keep your loved one safe.

It is important to have a plan in place in the event that it should happen to your parent or another loved one.  Find out if your area has a “Safe Return Program” and enroll them in it and have them wear a GPS locating device at all times.  Also, learn to recognize the warning signs of potential wandering such as: has the person forgotten how to get to familiar places, talks about going home even when they are home, gets confused as to where familiar places in the home are, and acts nervous or anxious in crowded areas.

Tips to help prevent wandering include creating and sticking to a routine, identifying the times when wandering is most likely to occur, and trying to make sure all of the person’s needs are met so they don’t feel the need to go out.  In addition, reposition door locks out of the line of sight and make sure car keys are not left out.  You can buy a device that sounds an alarm when a door or window is opened; and never leave the person locked in at home or in a car alone.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows offers memory care in a secure environment that allows residents to safely explore their surroundings, including an enclosed courtyard. In addition, our dedicated staff is trained to keep residents engaged and safe. Please visit our website for more information about MorningStar and our compassionate, loving memory care.

How Seniors in Memory Care Can Get a Better Night's Rest

November 14, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

Our bodies need sleep, especially as we age. It is certainly frustrating when we can’t seem to fall asleep or stay asleep for long. Not getting enough rest leads to bouts of irritation and can even lead to depression or anxiety surrounding bedtime. This Assisted Living facility in Colorado has been named “Alzheimer’s Association Leader in Dementia Care” because of their progress and dedication to top rated memory care. If you find yourself with poorer sleep than you would like, MorningStar Assisted Living and Memory Care works with these tips to combat pesky sleep problems in seniors with memory loss.

If you aren’t getting enough sleep at night, chances are you are taking many naps during the day to make up for your restlessness. While naps may seem like an easy solution to a sleepless night, they can actually hinder you in the long run. Limiting your naps during the day can help your body prepare for sleep later in the day.

With dementia or Alzheimer’s, it may be difficult to get seniors to move around as much as they once did but focusing on activities that help seniors move their bodies is a good way to help them feel tired and fall asleep later in the day. Staggered walks throughout the day can help to make the body and mind feel tired later. If mobility is limited, arm exercises and stretches are another way to help move the body and are very low risk.

MorningStar focuses on holistic dementia and Alzheimer’s care that is dedicated to helping residents affected by memory loss. Under their holistic mantra of “Lavender Sky,” MorningStar explores a person’s life, history, and preferences to offer personalized care and explore ways to involve and engage family members, knowing our service is as much to them as to the residing senior. Memory care facilities such as MorningStar Senior Living of Littleton, is a reliable assisted living community that is actively working to combat the issues surrounding sleep and dementia through holistic methods of care.

Thanksgiving Activities for Your Senior Living Community

November 14, 2022 by Quinn A in Senior Living

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and there is no better time to start planning for some traditional Thanksgiving and Fall themed activities. Especially for seniors living in retirement communities or assisted living, feeling the holiday spirit is paramount for beating any bouts of loneliness or feelings of isolation. MorningStar Assisted Living and Senior Living Des Moines, IA, has a foundation built on community and inclusion of residents, especially during the holiday season. Here are some new thanksgiving activities that may help you or a senior in assisted living or senior living celebrate the new season.

Every family has their own special recipe they make on Thanksgiving. A recipe competition is good, creative way to get involved in your senior living community. Everyone likes to think their sweet potato casserole is the best, but now it’s time to bring that to fruition. Not only is it fun for the whole community to try a special dish, but it’s great bringing an old recipe back from memory. It’s very nostalgic to cook a beloved meal and can hopefully bring back great holiday memories of times with family and friends.

Using your hands to work on some holiday arts and crafts is always good. Work on a scrapbook page with some close friends in your senior living community. There’s no better way to entice feelings of gratitude than going through old photos and memorabilia to remember all the great things you’ve done and the beautiful people you love. Sharing these memories with your friends while creating a unique scrapbook page is a lovely way to spend a Fall afternoon.

Love the sound of built-in companionship, predictable budgeting, and the security that comes from residing in an independent living community? MorningStar Senior Living retirement homes Des Moines, Iowa, takes care of the worry and stress of aging and allows you more time to do the things you love. Whether it’s fulfilling a calling, finding a new opportunity through volunteerism, or spending time with friends and loved ones and relaxing, there’s a place for you at MorningStar Senior Living and Assisted Living Des Moines, Iowa.

Finding the Right Gift for a Loved One with Memory Impairment

November 14, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

If you want to get something special for mom or dad or another loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s or a dementia-related disease, it can be challenging to figure out a good gift. This is where the Internet can lend a hand with a range of items designed to enhance your loved one’s quality of life.

Dementia care specialists say it can take a little more time and some creativity but there are many great gift ideas. One idea is personalized gifts or memory-filled ones. A photo album filled with pictures of the person surrounded by people important to them, or a picture book from a place they loved to visit. A coffee mug personalized with a photo or a cozy throw filled with favorite family pictures are also good ideas.

Music from their younger years, show tunes and old movies are sure to make them smile and can be a good way to spend an afternoon together listening to their new gifts. Coloring books filled with pictures of things they love such as animals or flowers, and a set of new markers or crayons, and easy-to-do crafts are also fun to do together.

Another item targeted to people with Alzheimer’s or dementia is therapy stuffed animals.  Designed to meet their special needs, one example is a teddy bear that comes with a few classic songs but has room to load a person’s favorite tunes (up to a 1,000 songs). Cuddly robotic cat and dog stuffed animals have a calming, soothing effect on people in the middle and later stages of Alzheimer's disease. Research shows they can help the person remember a time in their life when their purpose included caring for others.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows provides compassionate and loving care to those suffering from memory impairment. The Reflections Neighborhood is meticulously designed to accommodate the special needs of memory care residents, allowing them as much independence as possible.   Our specially-trained care team understands that the essence of the person still exists despite the memory loss, and will strive every day to connect with and nurture that essence. Please contact us or visit our website for more information.

MorningStar is guided by a culture rooted in our mission of honoring God, valuing seniors, and investing in our team, which allows us to deliver services with warmth, sincerity and depth of purpose. We have built a reputation for creating true homes filled with an atmosphere of love and community. Moving a Parent into Assisted Living Can Cause Feelings of Guilt

November 14, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Many adult children feel as if they let their parents down by moving them into an assisted living community. Mom or dad may have even asked years ago that you never put them into a “home,” and at the time, you made the promise; and/or you know families whose adult children have opened their home to their parents. You keep thinking your parents spent years caring for you, and now when they need help, you turn to strangers to provide the care they need.

Experts explain feelings of guilt are normal and moving a loved one to an assisted living community is probably one of the hardest decisions you will have to make as an adult. However, they quickly add it is important to remember they were not getting the assistance they needed at home. For their safety and wellbeing, they needed to move to a place where they would receive the proper care.

Rather than waste time thinking you have let them down, think of it as giving them a better quality of life where they can safely age in place. Experts say stop comparing yourself to others who may have made different decisions; and most of all to remember “people who don’t help and don’t understand the situation aren’t qualified to make judgments or accusations.” Also, remember your loved one is getting older, and chances are their health is not going to improve in the long-term regardless of where they are living. By getting the care they need, assisted living can offer a senior the feeling of independence.

If you are looking at senior living communities on the north side of Metro Denver, we encourage you to consider MorningStar of Wheat Ridge.  We provide all the amenities, wellness programs, and care services residents need for their comfort and wellbeing.  Our beautiful community offers 45 bright suites for assisted living in a range of configurations to accommodate residents’ preferences and needs.   In addition, 19 secure suites are devoted to the care of those with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. Assisted Living at Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows

November 11, 2022 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Too often seniors mistakenly believe that moving into assisted living means an end to their independence and their life as they knew it.  We want to reassure you that at today’s assisted living communities like MorningStar at Mountain Shadows; nothing could be further from the truth.

Aging.com explains that while changes in a person’s ability to care for themselves can be caused by underlying medical conditions, studies show the importance of seniors receiving the assistance they need with the ADLs (activities of daily living). “Functional status and the ability to care for oneself have a significant impact on a senior's quality of life.  Unmet needs for help with activities of daily living can lead to malnutrition, poor personal hygiene, isolation, illnesses like urinary tract infections (UTIs), and falls.”

Another benefit of getting the help you need when you need it, is it actually gives the person a renewed sense of independence and lets them feel like they are once again in control of their life.  Independence promotes a sense of achievement as well as a sense of self-worth and purpose.  It inspires achievement, and reminds seniors that they still have a lot to contribute to their families, their communities and the world as a whole.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, one important part of our mission statement includes “valuing all seniors as gifted and contributing individuals — a commitment to creating a community that promotes a healthy, engaged lifestyle, while providing security and independence.”  Thus, our entire community is focused on physical, intellectual, spiritual and social activities that present creative ways for our residents to stay active and productive each day.  Residents may also tap into their own unique talents and experiences by leading special interest clubs.

Our beautiful home has 45 assisted living suites to meet a variety of needs from spacious studios to one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans.  While enjoying their stylish private suites, assisted living residents have peace of mind knowing that help is readily available when they need it. In addition, our Reflections Neighborhood has 19 suites devoted to the specialized care of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.   Please call us or visit our website to learn more about MorningStar’s senior living in Colorado Springs.

MorningStar takes tremendous pride in the reputation we have earned for excellence and authenticity since our inception in 2003.  We believe the human capacity to grow, to learn and to contribute is ageless; and we act upon that truth daily, as we care for, inspire, and love the residents under our roof. When is the Best Time to Place a Loved One in Memory Care?

November 07, 2022 by Quinn A in Memory care

Dementia care specialists say they are often asked when is the best time to place a loved one in memory care. The simple answer is it is different for each person as well as for each family. They add that while there is no definitive answer, there may be a downside to waiting too long and typically there is not a problem moving a person into memory care in the early stages.

Experts recommend families start the search for senior living communities offering specialized memory care once the level of daily care needed has surpassed that of what a family can effectively and safely provide. Caring for a loved one with dementia is both physically and emotionally challenging for family caregivers, and caregiver burnout is a real problem that can impact the caregiver’s health and wellbeing. Placing a person in a community specializing in dementia care allows family members to ease their role as caregiver and instead spend quality time with their loved one.

It is important to keep in mind people in the later stages of Alzheimer’s lose a lot of their mobility. A petite woman trying to help her husband with the activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, and dressing is difficult and can result in injuries to both of them. A designated memory care community can handle all of these tasks as they have the training, staff, and equipment to safely assist residents and prevent accidents.

Another common problem Alzheimer’s patients have is a tendency to wander. This is again an example of how memory care communities are equipped to handle the problem. They have areas designed for residents to safely move about in but are secure in terms of wandering away from the community and getting lost or hurt.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs MorningStar at Mountain Shadows provides specialized, compassionate care to those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  Every aspect of our Reflections Neighborhood is designed to meet the need of residents from meaningful activities, trained caregivers, food service, security and more. If your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, they deserve the best care. Please contact us or visit our website to learn more.
