As People Age, Depression Can Be Confused With Dementia

February 07, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Experts report that as people age, dementia and depression are both common conditions and may be confused with one another. Additionally, one may lead to the other as depression is linked to a higher risk for dementia, and dementia can cause depression.

The Harvard Medical School explains depression in the elderly can lead to a “phenomenon called pseudodementia—an apparent intellectual decline that stems from a lack of energy or effort.” They say individuals with this problem are often forgetful, move slowly, exhibit low motivation and signs of slowing mental prowess. If a loved one experiences these types of symptoms, their doctor may treat it with the same medications used to treat depression. As the person’s mood improves, they typically begin to function at their previous level.

Professionals share a few ways depression and dementia differ to help families and healthcare providers determine what is going on. One important difference is the time span of the decline.  A person with depression typically shows a faster decline in mental functioning than those suffering from Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related diseases. Also, Alzheimer’s disease causes confusion and disorientation as well as problems with short-term memory. Depression causes problems with concentration.

People suffering from depression do not have more than the usual difficulties with writing, speaking and motor skills, and are more aware of any memory problems they are experiencing. People suffering from Alzheimer’s disease seem indifferent to those types of changes. However, to determine the cause of the problem, it is important to make an appointment with the person’s healthcare provider.

If it does turn out to be Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, MorningStar at Mountain Shadows is ready to help. Along with assisted living, our community provides compassionate, comprehensive care to those with memory impairment.  Residents receive 24-hour care, daily health monitoring, access to a full-time nurse, and participate in wellness programs and services tailored to their special needs.  For trusted senior living in Colorado Springs, please contact us to learn more.

Breaking Down the Cost of Assisted Living

February 05, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Experts advise families to do their homework before moving mom or dad into an assisted living community as the more you know about retirement communities, it helps avoid sticker shock as well as an unhappy parent. The recommendation is to tour at least two potential communities in order to make an informed comparison.

Prices for assisted living typically are determined by the amount of senior care services the person requires. Many offer a tiered system of care to allow residents to safely age in place as health conditions change so remember to ask about how often care plans are evaluated. Other reasons costs can vary include room type, i.e. selecting a smaller or larger floor plan; as well as suite location, a scenic view or balcony.

Be sure to ask what services and activities are included in the basic cost of the community. You will want to know about upfront deposits, community and move-in fees. Additionally, ask about the procedure for moving out and what type of notice you need to give.

Han Hwang, executive VP of partner sales and success for Caring.com, an online resource for those caring for aging parents, spouses and other loved ones, says “it’s really important to know exactly what you’re getting and to do an apples-to-apples comparison” when choosing an assisted living community. Often monthly costs include a fee for room and board along with the level of care, medication management and any other ancillary services. To help you stay within budget, Hwang says to anticipate services you may need over the next 12 to 24 months.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, our community is designed from the ground up to meet the needs of residents with a range of luxury amenities, senior care, hospitality services, wellness programs, and activities. Our beautiful home offers assisted living suites with a choice of spacious studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans. Tips for Family Members with Loved Ones in Assisted Living

January 24, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Having a senior parent or loved one in an assisted living residence or other long-term senior care facility often presents families with mixed emotions. On one hand, you’re happy knowing your loved one is being cared for and experiencing a full life, but on the other hand, you may be experiencing feelings of guilt, shame or worry.

Know that you are not alone with these feelings. Many adult children of aging parents deal with these very same thoughts. Below is a guide to better help you cope with your loved one transitioning to an assisted living community.

  1. Maintain Regular Communication

Your parents still want to hear from you and your family. Avoiding the situation of your loved one being in a retirement community will make your negative emotions and thoughts grow. Call regularly to check in on them and to make sure they are adjusting well. Maintaining regular communication and knowing that they are well will help you feel more secure in the choice you made for your parents.

  2. Visit frequently

Making frequent visits to see your loved one in their new assisted living home will help maintain the trust and connection between the two of you. Showing that you actively want to remain a part of their lives and that you are interested in their new life will spark joy in your parents. They will be excited to share their new interests and hobbies with you. Perhaps you can make it a family trip where your children can spend some time with their grandparents while enjoying a weekend getaway.

  3. Craft Thoughtful Gifts

To help your parents readjust to their new assisted living home, spend some time crafting some home decorations for their space. Shadow boxes, collages, hand-sewn goods, pictures and paintings are heartfelt gifts that will keep them thinking of you while you’re away. They will be happy you considered them and their comfort in this new transition.

Selecting an Assisted Living Community

January 15, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

According to the US Census Bureau’s statistics, there were an estimated 56 million adults ages 65 years and older, accounting for approximately 16.8% of the nation’s population as of 2021. An aging population means the number of seniors who require help with the ADLs (activities of daily living) will continue to grow as will the necessity for assisted living communities to address those needs.

The National Center for Assisted Living, a non-profit organization representing assisted living facilities across the country, explains, “Assisted living is part of a continuum of long-term care services that provides a combination of housing, personal care services, and health care designed to respond to individuals who need assistance with normal daily activities in a way that promotes maximum independence.”

So how do you decide the best fit for yourself or a loved one when it comes to an assisted living community? Experts say begin by researching who regulates assisted living in your state and the type of regulations in place. Then begin looking at individual homes. The most important thing is to ensure the home provides the level of care you or your loved one needs now and will need over the next several years as you don’t want to have to make another move in a couple of years.

Affordability is another consideration. Consulting with an elder care attorney can be helpful in exploring creative ways to pay for assisted living. Also, you will want a location convenient for family and friends, and for getting to doctor’s appointments, shopping and more.

Finally, consider the amenities and activities. Does the community have inviting common areas for visitors?  What type of onsite amenities would you desire?  A salon, theater or chapel? Are the activities or hobbies you enjoy such as crafting or bridge available?

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, we offer assisted living along with memory care.  As an assisted living resident, you will have a personalized plan created for you, and updated as needed. Around-the-clock care managers, access to licensed nurses and medication management are just a few of the many services we provide to ensure your safety and to meet your needs.

MorningStar residents enjoy beautifully prepared meals, served restaurant-style and eaten in a relaxed, community setting. We also know it is important for seniors to continue to learn and contribute, which is why we offer a wide range of meaningful wellness programs, activities and entertainment. Please visit our website for more information about outstanding assisted living in Colorado Springs.

Factors to Consider About Aging in Place

January 12, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

To safely age in place, seniors need to be somewhere that supports their independence, health, and security whether it is their own home or a senior community which meets their needs. The decision on where and how a person lives depends on a variety of factors including any physical conditions limiting their mobility. Another thing affecting a person’s well-being is living with a disease such as Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia.

It is beneficial to evaluate your current home to see if it will work for you in the future; or would your needs be better served somewhere like an assisted living community? If you have mobility issues and your present living situation requires modifications to make it safe, keep in mind those changes can be expensive as well as affect the value of the home when you do sell. Problem areas include stairs, narrow doorways and poorly lit areas that increase the risk of a dangerous fall.

Additionally, if you live alone, how far away are family members or friends you can count on if you need help. Are you comfortable with an in-home service to assist you with tasks that are difficult to do on your own such as bathing or preparing food?

Other important considerations of aging in place include the upkeep of a home. Are you responsible for the maintenance inside and out? Also, do you still drive, and how far away is shopping and your medical care?

If you do have chronic health conditions, it makes sense to plan for changing needs. In some cases, a person may choose to move into an assisted living community even if they currently do not need help with the ADLs (activities of daily living). This way they are already familiar with the residents and staff and have the peace of mind knowing help will be there when they need it. If you live in or around the Colorado Springs area, we encourage you to learn more about MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, a luxury senior living community offering assisted living and memory care.

Our building was designed from the ground up to accommodate our residents’ needs in beautiful surroundings. Services include help with the ADLs; all-day, restaurant-style dining; resort-style amenities; wellness programs, activities and built-in companionship. For seniors with Alzheimer’s and other types of memory loss, the Reflections Neighborhood provides safety, security, people and programs to help preserve the person’s dignity and self-worth. Please contact us to ask about availability and to set up a tour.

What Causes Excessive Bruising?

January 10, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

As we age, many seniors discover new bruises on their body but have no memory of how they got there. The Medical News Today (MNT) explains this may be the result of the skin thinning and blood vessels weakening and/or that some people are just more prone to bruising. It can also run in families. Being a frequent, extreme bruiser includes having many bruises without remembering their cause; regularly developing bruises that take many weeks to heal and bleeding for longer than 10 minutes following an injury.

Excessive bruising and bleeding can be from medications, many of which seniors routinely take. These include drugs like warfarin, heparin, rivaroxaban, dabigatran, apixaban and aspirin. Doctors say even certain herbal remedies such as ginkgo biloba, ginseng, feverfew, large quantities of garlic, ginger, and willow bark can increase the risk of bleeding or cause a change to blood vessels. The same is true for drugs like corticosteroids and glucocorticoids of which one example is prednisone.

MNT reports liver disease is also associated with excessive bruising. “As the disease progresses, the liver may stop producing the proteins that help the blood clot. As a result, a person may experience excessive bleeding and easy bruising.” Other blood disorders and diseases such as hemophilia, senile purpura, or even vitamin deficiencies can include bruising as a symptom. Experts say consult your healthcare provider if you suddenly begin bruising more easily, have symptoms such as yellow skin, fever and low energy, taking medication and begin bruising, or getting painful bruises that are slow to heal.

For unsurpassed assisted living, Colorado Springs area seniors are encouraged to consider MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, a great place to live your retirement years to the fullest.  We offer a whole host of programs and activities that enhance and support mental, physical, spiritual and social well-being.  Each day residents have the opportunity to engage the mind, body and spirit as well as find ways to learn and contribute.  In addition, our Reflections Neighborhood offers holistic, compassionate care to those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related diseases. How to Make Assisted Living More Comfortable

December 25, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

The transition to assisted living can be difficult for a lot of seniors and their loved ones. Many seniors lived in their own homes for many years. While the change can be difficult, there are some creative and trusted ways to make a new assisted living home more comfortable for seniors.

If your loved one is having a difficult time adjusting to senior living, or you just want to make their move more comfortable, consider these ideas below to help your loved one feel at home in their assisted living community.

Personalize Your Assisted Living Space

All-inclusive assisted living communities that offer unfurnished living spaces are a great example of how you can easily make your senior living apartment more comfortable. Make sure to pack your loved one’s favorite things and decorate the new home similar to how they once had. Showcasing beloved family memories and knickknacks is another way to make the space feel more homey.

Create a Calming Assisted Living Environment

When decorating your new assisted living space, think about what things are most calming to your loved one. This may mean finding a color pallet that they enjoy that brings them peace. Or adorning the apartment with items for a specific theme that you know they love. Decorative throw blankets, pillows, plants and wall decorations are great ways to tie a home together and help your loved one acclimate. There’s a lot of space to be creative when designing your assisted living apartment.

Attend Events

Likely, your loved one will not know anyone in their senior living community once they first move in. This may induce anxiety, making it more difficult for your loved one to venture out and meet their neighbors. To help get them out of their rooms, offer to attend events and activities with them. Having someone they love and trust by their side will help give them the confidence to explore new things and meet their community.

How to Choose the Right Assisted Living Community

December 22, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

It’s hard to come to terms with the fact your parent or loved one requires assisted living care. You want to provide them with the best living situation possible, but you may not be able to accommodate them now. You may have your own family, live far away, or just lack the necessary space or resources. It’s important to not feel shame for this and know that there are senior living communities that accommodate this very situation.

Assisted living communities prioritize the needs of seniors who require extra help with daily living. All-inclusive assisted living homes offer seniors great benefits that encourage them to be social and active. But with all the senior living choices near you, it may be hard to pick the right one for you and your loved one. This quick guide will help you choose the right assisted living community.

Things to Consider When Looking for Assisted Living

  • Assisted Living Amenities

While most senior living communities offer amenities for seniors to enjoy, it’s good to take into account what amenities your loved one would use. For many seniors in assisted living, having access to a hair salon, bistro, movie theatre, gym and walking trails makes living life easier and more enjoyable.

  • Level of Care

What level of care does your loved one require? Needs vary for many seniors in assisted living and it’s important to know that your senior living community can accommodate you. Senior living communities with personalized care plans make it easy to ensure that your loved one is getting the correct level of care and that their needs can still be met later on if things change.

  • Safety and Security

Seniors need a home that makes them feel safe and valued. When looking for assisted living care, find senior living management that is accessible, friendly and professional. They should value your time and work tirelessly to make your loved one feel at home.

The Progression of Alzheimer’s Disease

December 11, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, a person’s needs change and it is important to recognize and address those changes with appropriate care. Along with meeting basic needs, experts say care providers should treat the whole person by creating an environment that allows them to feel independent and safe. The Alzheimer’s Association says determining the best care options can be tough and offers some advice on how to ensure the person has the services, programs, and caregivers in place for the best possible quality of life.

The first step to any decision regarding care is to honestly evaluate your loved one’s needs. Also, to whatever degree possible, it is recommended you include them in any decisions. Another thing to remember is during the early stages of the disease the person may be able to live independently but in the middle stages, 24-hour supervision is needed. Additionally, around-the-clock care is much more demanding in the later and end stages.

Primary points to consider include safety, especially in terms of unsupervised cooking, or if the person has a tenacity to wander or needs help with medications. Does the person have medical conditions that need monitoring such as diabetes or a mobility issue? Other problems that may demand more professional care include a person becoming aggressive or needing help with the ADLs (activities of daily living). Finally, consider if the person would benefit from more social interactions and activities.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows offers care to those with mild to advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases. The Reflections Neighborhood is designed to accommodate the needs of our residents and encourages their independence while keeping them safe. Our approach to memory care is encompassed under the expanse of possibilities we call Lavender Sky and uses a broad range of Montessori-based therapy techniques. Assisted Living Communities Meet Many Needs

As people grow older, their needs change and many require help with daily personal care activities.  This can present a dilemma in families as some elderly seniors firmly state that they do not want to move into an assisted living community.  However, when the pressure to assume caretaking responsibilities continues to grow for family members and even safety is a concern, they may have to consider alternatives.

It is important to know that research shows assisted living can be a healthier lifestyle for seniors than living alone.  They have access to 24/7 care as well as the benefits that come from socializing with others.  In addition, keep in mind that your parent’s home may need costly modifications to make it safe for them to continue to live there while assisted living communities are designed to address those needs.  Moreover, along with the assistance they need with daily personal care, communities such as MorningStar at Mountain Shadows provide a range of wellness programs and activities that support residents’ mental, physical, spiritual, and social wellbeing.

In addition, wholesome, nutritional daily meals as well as housekeeping and laundry services mean your parents will have their basic needs met seamlessly.  One often overlooked benefit of assisted living is that with proper assistance, rather than your parent’s fear of losing their independence becoming true, they will actually get it back.  Also, by getting the needed assistance from the staff, it allows families to just enjoy spending time together without the added responsibility of being caregivers.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, our carefree lifestyle provides a chance to begin new adventures, meet a broader community of like-minded individuals and enjoy precious retirement years. Our stylish suites are available in a range of floor plans and only require furnishings and personal items to make it feel like home.  For residents’ safety, all suites are equipped with emergency call systems and handicap-accessible bathrooms.  Contact us or visit our website for more information about luxury assisted living in Colorado Springs.

Relive the Past With an Elderly Loved One

December 04, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

If an elderly parent or another loved one is in an assisted living community and has limited mobility, you may feel it is difficult to think of things to talk about or to do when you visit.  Scrapbooking is an activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Also, it can be more than just a means to pass the time and preserve memories for seniors but can be beneficial to them as well.

By organizing an activity such as scrapbooking, it can help to keep everyone engaged as well as inspire your loved one to start sharing stories about the “good old days.”  As you start documenting their life story, it will likely bring back memories they may have forgotten and/or the rest of the family has never heard.  Along with exercising the brain with recollections of the past, scrapbooking can boost self-esteem, improve one’s dexterity and increase socialization by introducing new topics of conversation.

To get started, visit your local craft store or shop on the Internet for scrapbooking supplies that will help you create a book that is uniquely your parent’s.  Your next step is to help gather and organize the photos and materials in chronological order that will go into the scrapbook.

If the project seems too overwhelming for your parents, have them pick a theme such as family vacations or weddings through the years, or do one that focuses on their childhood and early years.  Before you start to glue things in, take the time to layout the photos and mementos for each page; and most importantly, encourage and enjoy the stories and memories shared by your loved one.

If you are looking for assisted living in Colorado Springs, we encourage you to consider MorningStar at Mountain Shadows. 3 Reasons Seniors Enjoy Companion Living

November 29, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Assisted Living can be an overwhelming experience for many seniors if they are making the trip alone. However, seniors can enjoy companion living with us at MorningStar Senior Living where close friends or couples can embark on this new journey together.

Companion living for seniors in assisted living is a great option if they need a little extra care and attention from those they trust. Within its communities, MorningStar Senior Living Des Moines offers Assisted Living with support at various levels and Around-the-clock Care Managers who are on-site and at the ready to ensure your comfort and safety. With that in mind, here are the top three reasons why seniors enjoy companion living at MorningStar Assisted Living Des Moines.

Emotional Support- It can be hard to be vulnerable with people you don’t fully know or trust yet. Spousal living, or companion living, provides seniors with added emotional support as they adjust to assisted living care. Since these individuals have likely known each other for many years, couples feel safe to share worries and fears with each other. It is a valuable experience to provide your spouse comfort while embracing a new change together.

Affordability- We offer Companion Living in all of our communities, where spouses or two unrelated people of the same sex share a suite and thus split the costs of the apartment and utility costs.

Motivation- Family members, close friends, and spouses motivate and inspire us. If there are some changes a senior wants to make upon moving to assisted living, our close loved one can support and motivate us to achieve those goals and make changes. Whether it’s to eat healthier, explore a new hobby, complete a task, or make new friends, companion living allows individuals to feel motivated by their loved ones.

Understanding Elderly Respite Care

November 24, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

You may think of assisted living facilities as apartment complexes for seniors in need of intense care and support. While you can find trusted senior care in assisted living complexes, you can also experience short-term respite care.

Caretaking is a full-time job. We understand that you may need a break from time to time. Perhaps your loved one has undergone surgery that you are unable to tend to properly. Regardless, MorningStar offers respite care to provide support for families and seniors.

What is Respite Care?

Respite care offers short-term support for family members or caregivers supporting a senior loved one. We offer Short-term Stays of about 30 days or less, for those times when a senior's regular caregiver is unavailable or unable to provide care for any reason. These seniors in respite care will reside in a fully furnished room within our senior living community.

What are the Benefits of Respite Care?

Surgery Recovery- Respite stays are also ideal for any seniors who are recovering from surgery and need added care, attention, and support that they may not have access to at home. MorningStar offers the quiet quarters and attendance you need to fully recover.

Caregiver Support- While families and caregivers enjoy supporting their elderly loved ones, there are times when they are not able to provide the same level of care. If a caregiver is going on vacation, moving, welcoming a baby, or experiencing an illness themselves, respite stays at MorningStar’s Senior Living communities provide added help to these families.

Trying Out a Senior Care Facility- Respite stays at MorningStar allow curious seniors to experience our senior living facilities without any long-term commitment. During a respite stay, you get a full month to experience the amenities and activities MorningStar has to offer. From here, you can have a full picture of what senior retirement could look like at MorningStar.

Sleep Apnea is a Serious Condition

November 22, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

The US News & World Report says approximately 1 in 3 adults are believed to have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). They explain the condition causes a person to momentarily stop breathing at intervals throughout the night and interrupting their sleep.

Pulmonologist and section head of sleep medicine at National Jewish Health in Denver, Dr. Sheila Tsai, explains, “A person’s airway either partially collapses or completely closes (obstructs) during sleep.” She says episodes can be frequent throughout the sleep cycle and cause drops in oxygenation. While the person may only awake briefly as they struggle to breathe, their sleep is fragmented and non-restorative as it infers with REM, the deep, restful stage of sleep.

Common causes of OSA are obesity and age, and The Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine estimates as many as 80 percent of people suffering from OSA are undiagnosed. The condition typically causes the person to snore loudly, interrupted with gasps, hesitations and snorts. They may wake up feeling unrefreshed and sleepy during the day, or complain of headaches. OSA can additionally cause other sleep disorders to become worse like restless-leg syndrome and sleep walking.

Doctors say OSA is a serious, but treatable condition and it is important to seek medical care. A sleep study or test done in a clinic setting or even at home is the best way to diagnose the condition. Untreated OSA can put a person at a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other problems.

Is Assisted Living the Right Choice?

November 20, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

For many seniors, there comes a time when they feel they are not living life on their own terms, and routine, day-to-day activities start becoming more difficult. To determine if assisted living is the right choice for a parent or another loved one, experts say you need to consider the amount of care they require daily. If it is more personal care than he/she can get (or afford) with in-home services or in an independent living community, yet they don’t need 24-hour medical care and supervision, assisted living is the ideal option.

People often confuse assisted living communities with nursing homes; however, they are not the same thing. Nursing homes provide around-the-clock skilled nursing care while assisted living provides help with the ADLs (activities of daily living) to enhance residents’ quality of life within a residential setting.

While some families may experience sticker shock when first learning the cost of assisted living, you need to consider everything it includes. For example, MorningStar at Mountain Shadows’ monthly fee includes property taxes, utilities, security system, and the cost of maintenance inside and out. Daily meals are included in the fee as is housekeeping, scheduled transportation and an array of activities, entertainment and outings.

At MorningStar, we like to think of assisted living as providing seniors “a little help from friends” to enable them to live life as independently as possible. Our community offers assisted living suites in a choice of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans. Onsite amenities include a salon, bistro, fitness room, theater, chapel, fireside patio and library. For seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases, our Reflections Neighborhood is designed to meet the needs of our most tender residents.

Along with assisted living and memory care, MorningStar at Mountain Shadows also offers respite care (short recuperative stays) or trial stays (up to a full month) so you can see if we are a good fit. Please contact us or visit our website to learn what sets us apart from other senior living in Colorado Springs and why MorningStar is such a great place to call home.

Do You Need a Mobility Aid?

November 13, 2023 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Many older adults, especially those in assisted living communities, are no longer as steady on their feet as they used to be.  This puts them in danger of a fall, and a walker, cane or even a wheelchair or scooter is probably advisable.  However, before you start using a hand-me-down walker or buy any-old cane; experts warn that one size does not fit all.  In the case of a walker, to be an effective and safe mobility aid, it is important to have an expert help you pick out the best type and size for your needs.

As AgingCure.com points out, “The wrong device can negatively affect a senior’s stability, cause posture-related problems and even result in pain. Mobility aids come in all shapes and sizes, so selecting the right equipment and achieving a proper fit usually requires a professional’s assistance and expertise.”  To get started determining what your needs are, experts recommend seeing your healthcare provider to discuss any problems you are having with your activities of daily living (ADLs).  If they recognize a need for a mobility aid, they may refer you to an occupational or physical therapist.

The following are a couple of basic guidelines to know before you get started.  A cane can help provide balance and stability and is ideal for someone who needs to support no more than 25% of their body weight.  It is most useful for those minimally impaired or with weakness in one leg.   Walkers are available in a variety of models but regardless of the style a “correct height of a walker is measured from the floor to the wrist, and the elbows should be flexed in a range of 15 to 20 degrees.”  Experts also say the walker must be large enough to provide front and side support for the user.

A motorized scooter may be the answer for someone who has lost the ability to walk any distance but still has an adequate amount of strength in their arms and upper body to stay upright as well as drive the scooter.  Again, there are a variety of models including indoor and outdoor ones as well.  Keep in mind though that most insurance companies and Medicare Part B typically only cover scooters for in-house use.

MorningStar of Wheat Ridge is a senior living community in Metro Denver with 45 private assisted living suites in a variety of floor plans.  In addition, our Reflections Neighborhood has 19 memory care suites devoted to the specialized care of those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Our goal is to enhance quality of life for our residents, and we do this through a full range of care and hospitality services, amenities, and a component of wellness programs and activities.
