Understanding End of Life Care

October 14, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

To help those dealing with end-of-life issues, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) explains some of the myths associated with palliative and hospice care including sorting out the difference between the two terms. They explain while they are similar, they do differ in a couple of significant ways.

Palliative care is defined as providing specialized care for those living with a serious illness. Myths linked to palliative care include the person no longer being able to receive care for their disease. The fact is care can be provided for the illness along with curative care. Another myth is the person will no longer be able to see their primary doctor but will only be treated by specialists. NIA says in many cases, the person’s primary provider will work hand-in-hand with specialists.

The intention of palliative care is to improve quality of life as well as provide care to improve help with symptoms. It also helps the patient understand their choices for medical treatment. A palliative care team may be made up of specialized nurses and doctors along with social workers, nutritionists and chaplains. If a time comes when the person’s care team decides treatment is no longer working, palliative care could transition to hospice care if the doctor believes the person is likely to die within six months.  Another option is the palliative team would continue to help with the emphasis on providing comfort care.

The NIA explains hospice care provides comfort and quality of life for a person with a serious illness who is facing end of life. The myth surrounding hospice care is the person cannot receive any medications. The truth is a person will receive medications to help manage symptoms but not to treat the disease. Many people think hospice care can only be done in a hospital or nursing facility but experts say it can also be done at home.

Caregiver Burnout is a Common Problem

October 07, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Caregiver burnout is a real thing. Experts estimate 61 percent of the country’s 48 million caregivers are working outside jobs along with acting as a caregiver. In a report titled “Working While Caregiving: It’s Complicated,” from AARP and S&P Global, two-thirds of respondents said they had at least some difficulty balancing work and life responsibilities.

The survey reports 84 percent of respondents said caregiving had a moderate or high impact on the stress they feel daily. Another 27 percent of working caregivers said due to their workload “they were forced to go from full-time to part-time work or reduce their hours.” Others complained their employers seemed to be more understanding of child care leave than they were to employees who had to take time off to care for a parent or other elderly family member.

Respondents said beyond holding down a job, they were putting in at least six hour a week of caregiving for a loved one. Tasks include everything from assisting with the actual physical care of a loved one to taking the person to doctor visits, grocery shopping, and serving as an advocate for the person to ensure they are getting the proper care.

Other studies support the findings of the AARP survey as they too found participants reported difficulty in balancing work and caregiving; and the negative impact it can have on physical and mental health. In 2023, a study found almost half of all caregivers were spending between 10 to 29 hours a week caregiving. More concerning is many caregivers are neglecting their own health stating they have no time to exercise and are not keeping up with routine annual physicals and screenings. In fact, forty-one percent of caregivers report low overall well-being, which is 32% more than non-caregivers.

This is why assisted living and memory care communities can be a lifesaver for both the elderly person and the family caregiver. Many assisted living communities like MorningStar at Mountain Shadows offer residents much more than just comprehensive physical care. Residents enjoy a whole range of amenities and services as well as the opportunity to make new friends.

Once a family decides to entrust MorningStar at Mountain Shadows with the care of their loved one, we do a thorough evaluation of the person’s medical history, background and personal preferences to create a care plan which is routinely updated. Residents receive access to a full-time licensed nurse and a caring, responsive 24-hour staff. Other services include medication management, scheduled transportation and onsite therapeutic services such as physical therapy and occupational therapy. Please contact us for more information about outstanding assisted living in Colorado Springs.

MorningStar takes tremendous pride in the reputation we have earned for excellence and authenticity since our inception in 2003.  We believe the human capacity to grow, to learn and to contribute is ageless; and we act upon that truth daily, as we care for, inspire, and love the residents under our roof. Selecting an Assisted Living Community

September 25, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

According to the US Census Bureau’s statistics, there were an estimated 56 million adults ages 65 years and older, accounting for approximately 16.8% of the nation’s population as of 2021. An aging population means the number of seniors who require help with the ADLs (activities of daily living) will continue to grow as will the necessity for assisted living communities to address those needs.

The National Center for Assisted Living, a non-profit organization representing facilities across the country, explains, “Assisted living is part of a continuum of long-term care services that provides a combination of housing, personal care services, and health care designed to respond to individuals who need assistance with normal daily activities in a way that promotes maximum independence.”

So how do you decide the best fit for yourself or a loved one when it comes to an assisted living community? Experts say begin by researching who regulates assisted living in your state and the type of regulations in place. Then begin looking at individual homes. The most important thing is to ensure the home provides the level of care you or your loved one needs now and will need over the next several years as you don’t want to have to make another move in a couple of years.

Affordability is another consideration. Consulting with an elder care attorney can be helpful in exploring creative ways to pay. Also, you will want a location convenient for family and friends, and for getting to doctor’s appointments, shopping and more.

Finally, consider the amenities and activities. Does the community have inviting common areas for visitors?  What type of onsite amenities would you desire?  A salon, theater or chapel? Are the activities or hobbies you enjoy such as crafting or bridge available?

At MorningStar of Wheat Ridge, we offer assisted living along with memory care.  As an assisted living resident, you will have a personalized plan created for you, and updated as needed. Around-the-clock care managers, access to licensed nurses and medication management are just a few of the many services we provide to ensure your safety and to meet your needs.

MorningStar residents enjoy beautifully prepared meals, served restaurant-style and eaten in a relaxed, community setting. We also know it is important for seniors to continue to learn and contribute, which is why we offer a wide range of meaningful wellness programs, activities and entertainment. The Link Between Walking Gait and Alzheimer's Disease

September 20, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Several studies including one from the journal Current Biology, report the way a senior walks may be messaging something about their future cognitive health. Researchers say walking relies on a person’s navigational skills, which demands mental engagement.

The slowing of a person’s walking pace is one of the things studies are looking at as an early warning sign of Alzheimer’s disease. People may start to take smaller steps and drift from side to side as well as exhibit poor balance and a history of frequent falls.  Ryan Glatt, a certified personal trainer, senior brain health coach, and director of the FitBrain Program at Pacific Neuroscience Institute in California, told Medical News Today, “In clinical settings, gait-based tests can be helpful for determining fall risk, especially with distractions, and perhaps can be part of a more comprehensive cognitive evaluation in the near future.”

Other studies report people with early Alzheimer’s have difficulty turning when walking. Researchers say the problem was not detected in older, healthy participants who suffered from mild cognitive impairment, suggesting the problem is specific to Alzheimer’s. Glatt explained the reason might be connected to changes in the hippocampus, a region of the brain partially responsible for spatial memory that helps to control visuospatial navigation.

Another early warning sign of Alzheimer’s is an altered sense of a person’s environmental perceptions. For example, a person may struggle to understand objects, and become confused by thinking something is 2D when it is really 3D; or vice versa.

Dr. Jonathan Fellows, who leads the Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorder Center, adds, “Observation of gait is an important assessment in the diagnosis of various dementias, including Alzheimer disease, as patients with this disorder can have what is called dyspraxia, or difficulty doing a previously learned task – in this case walking or turning.” Researchers explain some of the problems that appear to be specific to Alzheimer’s might allow doctors to diagnose patients earlier; and without the need for blood, spinal fluid or speech tests.

Along with assisted living, Colorado Springs’ MorningStar at Mountain Shadows has suites devoted to the care of those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  The Reflections Neighborhood is specifically designed to accommodate the needs of our residents and encourages and supports their independence while keeping them safe.   Daily, purposeful activities use music, dance, art, aromatherapy, and animals to heal and comfort whatever the extent of memory impairment.  Visit our website for more information about our compassionate, loving memory care.

Checking Your Blood Pressure at Home

September 18, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Many of us have had our blood pressure taken at the doctor’s office and were surprised when it turned out to be higher than we expected it to be. If this has happened to you, you may be experiencing something known as “white-coat hypertension,” meaning a higher than warranted reading during a medical appointment.

Doctors say one of the best ways to ensure you do not have elevated blood pressure, is to take your blood pressure at home a number of times. You may also be asked by your healthcare provider to track your blood pressure to see if you should be put on medication or adjust medication to reach a target number.

It is important to do it correctly to ensure readings are accurate. Experts say start by buying a validated monitor and do not buy one that uses the finger or wrist as they are not as accurate as upper-arm cuffs. If you have a much smaller or larger upper-arm, look for one appropriately sized.

Other things to consider are to not take your blood pressure when you are stressed and to wait at least 30 minutes after eating, smoking or exercising. Odd as it sounds you will get a more accurate reading if you empty your bladder right beforehand. Sit comfortably with feet flat on the floor and support your arm near heart height. Now wait a few minutes. A good strategy for a true representation of BP is to take 4 readings a day for 7 days – twice in the morning and twice at night. Let your doctor know your findings.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, we are honored to provide a level of assisted living that allows older adults to live rich, independent lives while receiving the personalized care they need. Our beautiful community offers a choice of assisted living suites in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans. Assistive Robot for People with Mild Cognitive Impairment

September 13, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

CARMEN, which is short for Cognitively Assistive Robot for Motivation and Neurorehabilitation, is a small, tabletop robot designed to help people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).  Recently the University of California introduced the world to CARMEN to help people learn skills to improve memory, attention, and executive functioning at home.

What sets CARMEN apart from other robots is it was created in partnership with clinicians, people with MCI and their care providers. Researchers say they think the robot is one of a kind in terms of teaching compensatory cognitive strategies designed to improve memory and executive function.

Experts estimate MCI affects up to 20% of adults 65 years or older, and of that number, 15% of people with the condition transition to dementia each year. Scientists say while we currently do not have medical treatments to slow or prevent this from happening, behavioral treatments can help.

Working one-on-one with individuals, CARMEN delivers a series of simple, easy-to-do cognitive training exercises. One example is teaching users to create routine places to leave important objects like keys, cellphone and other commonly misplaced items. CARMEN also emphasizes strategies such as taking notes to remember things.

The learning process is accomplished through a set of interactive games and activities designed to be done independently without the help of a clinician’s or researcher’s supervision. This meant the robot was built as a plug and play device without a lot of parts requiring maintenance. CARMEN was also designed to function with limited access to the Internet and not dependent on a reliable connection. The robot also expresses empathy and compassion for the person’s situation as well as communicates clearly.

Early results with CARMEN had participants reporting the learned strategies helped them feel more confidence in their everyday life, and they were now willing to attempt things they had previously stopped doing. Researchers say the hope is to get more robots in the hands of users and fine-tune the robot to address even more issues for people with MCI and other conditions such as ADHD.

Are You Considering a Move to Assisted Living?

September 11, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

For anyone considering a move to assisted living, choosing the right community is a big decision for families as getting it wrong may mean another move within a couple of months. To help, senior living experts say the first thing to do is to think about the level of care you or a loved one needs to improve quality of life.

After you have a good idea of what your needs are, now factor in things like location and affordability. If mom or dad needs help with the ADLs (activities of daily living) focus only on senior communities offering assisted living. If you want the home to be a convenient drive for easy visiting, concentrate on those communities. If mom or dad no longer drives, look for a community offering transportation for doctor appointments or errands; or if they plan to bring a car, does it offer parking? Does the home offer 24/7 care, medication management and access to licensed nurses?

Obviously, affordability is an important consideration, but senior living advocates warn don’t be initially shocked at the price. Rather think about all the living costs such as property taxes, maintenance, utility bills and meals included in the home’s monthly fees. For a better understanding of mom or dad’s assets, it may be worth your while to consult an expert in elder financial consulting. They can explore various options such as eligibility for Veterans’ benefits, what your parent’s long-term care insurance may cover, and the advantages of leveraging real estate assets and life insurance, tax benefits and more.

Other things to consider include the physical characteristics of the community. Does it offer a floor plan that works for you? Do you want amenities such as a fitness center, hair salon, outdoor patio, restaurant-style dining, theater, Wi-Fi, etc.?

For outstanding assisted living in Colorado Springs, we encourage you to learn more MorningStar at Mountain Shadows. MorningStar at Mountain Shadows Offers a Community of Friends

September 09, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

While we tend to think of assisted living communities as offering senior care services, amenities and wellness programs, there is one thing many people forget about. At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, we call it built-in companionship. In other words, the easy camaraderie that grows based on the spirit of friendships and community between one resident to another as well as between residents and our dedicated team and the surrounding community.

Research continues to add to the growing evidence regarding the value of companionship and the benefit it offers to seniors. Studies are proving time and time again that socialization among older adults not only keeps the brain sharp, but it can even decrease the risk of developing dementia. Unfortunately in today’s society, too many older adults say they feel isolated, which also puts them at risk for depression.

Experts say along with helping to keep the elderly mentally sharp, socialization increases a person’s sense of belonging. Knowing someone is there you can count on during life’s ups and downs is important. In fact, older adults with a good social network appear to have higher self-esteem and feel more confident.

Friends help us realize the importance of prioritizing our personal health and make it more likely we continue to take care of ourselves. Another benefit of a strong social life is it gives our lives meaning and purpose, and keeps us more engaged and excited about life.

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, our goal is to promote physical, intellectual, spiritual and social wellbeing. We provide everything older adults need for quality of life and to age in place safely and comfortably. How to Help Your Parent Transition to Assisted Living

August 23, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Moving is a difficult experience for everyone. But, this is especially true for our parents who may need care. It’s likely your parents have lived in the same home for many years. So, how do you help make the transition easier for your parents? The guide below can help you to see how you can help your senior parents transition to assisted living in a smooth and natural way that can make the experience great for everyone.

Open Communication

It is important for our parents to feel involved in their living arrangements. This means you should actively communicate with your parents on what you think would be best for them. Help to do research, schedule tours, and voice your concern as kindly as possible. While your parents may not be ready to change, it’s important to know that they have someone working with them that they can trust to have their best interest at heart.

Acknowledge your parents’ wants and concerns when it comes to finding a senior living community. Popular assisted living communities in West Des Moines offer plenty of amenities and spaces to explore hobbies, passions, and goals.

Downsize!

MorningStar Assisted Living West Des Moines offers spacious, private apartments within their communities. While these modern spaces are great for a couple to share, it may be significantly smaller than the home they’re used to. This means you should work alongside your parents to downsize, declutter, and help to find solutions to extra furniture and belongings that won’t fit into their new space. The added help with packing will make the whole process less overwhelming and uncomfortable.

Be Available

Seniors are often overwhelmed at the idea that they will be forgotten about when they transition to senior living. Be sure to calm any of these concerns and begin scheduling times to come visit with them regularly. Once they’re moved in, take the time to get to know the community with your parents. This will help them to trust their surroundings a bit more and feel less alone with you navigating the new space with them.

How to Know When Your Parent Needs Assisted Living

August 21, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

It’s hard as an adult child to recognize when our parents need to readjust their living arrangements due to their age or health. Our parents have always been a representation of strength and support, so what signs should you be on the lookout for to know when it’s time for assisted living?

Below are some ways to know when your aging parents may need assisted living.

Some major signs that your parents needs care include:

Noticing incomplete chores. This can include a growing amount of clutter around the home, garbage or food being left out, pets being fed less regularly, yard work not being maintained, or any other unfamiliar habit that has to do with the regular organization of their home.

Drastic weight changes. Weight tends to fluctuate as we age, but if you witness a noticeable change in your parents’ body weight, it may be time to speak with a healthcare provider or specialist. It may be becoming difficult for them to prepare meals, leading to eating an excess of processed or fast foods. Alternatively, they may forget to eat, letting groceries go bad or run out, making it difficult for them to eat a complete meal.

Safety Concerns. If you’ve recently visited with your parents and are noticing more scrapes, bruises, burns, or cuts, it may be a sign that  care may be necessary, especially if they’re living alone. While it is true that our mobility and balance can decrease as we age, continuously experiencing falls or other accidents can significantly impact a senior’s health. Finding a safe environment is the best way to prevent serious injuries.

Moving Into an Assisted Living Community as a Couple

August 16, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Growing older together can make couples feel like they are as familiar with their own needs as they are with their spouse’s. They are used to relying on one another for companionship as well as emotional support, which is why experts say moving into assisted living together can be beneficial on several levels.

To start with, it helps make the transition to community life easier. Alyssa M. Lanzi, a research assistant professor in the department of communication sciences and disorders at the University of Delaware in Newark, says, “Assisted living communities can be great for couples that are looking to continue to live together while needing some support for daily activities.”

Given the fact many senior living communities offer various levels of care services, even if a couple is on a different health track, their needs can be addressed with separate personalized care plans. It also eliminates the need to fund two homes. Additionally, if one of the partners is in good health, they can always move if their spouse passes away or requires something like specialized memory care.

Studies show in many cases couples who move into assisted living together say they wished they had done it sooner. They report enjoying the community’s social interactions and the peace of mind that comes knowing someone is around to lend a hand when needed. If one of the couple is more physically or cognitively healthy, they can relax knowing their loved one is being taken care of.

Moving earlier rather than later helps to maintain the couple’s quality of life and may provide a healthier lifestyle. Wellness programs, activities, nutritious meals and medication management offered at assisted living communities often help prevent or slow further decline.

Hearing Aids May Reduce Your Risk of Developing Dementia

August 14, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

JAMA Neurology added to the growing body of evidence showing a link between hearing loss and cognitive impairment. The study found treating hearing loss with hearing aids may reduce the risk of developing dementia by up to 19%. In fact, researchers say hearing loss may be the biggest treatable factor for dementia. An article in AARP explains what may cause the link between hearing loss and dementia.

The first theory regards socialization. Scientists say once a person starts having more difficulty being in a group of people and following the conversation, they may avoid such social gatherings. This in turn can lead to isolation, which is problematic as less social engagement as well as less cognitively stimulating activities and depression are risk factors for dementia.

Secondly, coping with hearing loss means the person is constantly working to sort out sounds and make sense of what is being said. The brain now may have “fewer resources (brain power) to help preserve thinking and memory abilities.” Scientists also believe hearing loss causes the brain to be less stimulated with sound information, which is linked with parts of the brain shrinking and atrophying faster with chronic deprivation.

While experts agree we still need more studies regarding the link between hearing loss and a higher risk for dementia, they do know that addressing a hearing issue with hearing aids is beneficial for the person’s overall quality of life. Moreover, there are no negative medical issues associated with the devices.

The Cost of Senior Care

August 12, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

An article in the US News & World Report finds moving mom or dad to an assisted living community may be a bargain compared to paying for extensive in-home care. With an average cost of $25 to $27 an hour, in-home care can add up fast. For example, if you want someone with mom or dad while you are at work nine hours a day for five days a week, you are already spending $4,500 or more a month. This still leaves your parents without support on the weekends, and doesn’t include any support for problems which may occur during the evening and overnight.

An assisted living community includes room and board and housekeeping services as well as a variety of social, educational and physical activities. It also has 24/7 staffing and suites with emergency call systems, handicap-accessible bathrooms and other modifications.

If a family feels assisted living would be the best place for a parent but the cost is holding them back, experts say to thoroughly research all available payment options. This can include long-term care insurance and some private health insurance; or social programs such those offered by Veterans Affairs or Social Security Disability Insurance. A San Francisco based executive VP for A Place for Mom, Sue Johansen, suggests families consult with a financial advisor or a trust attorney.

Remember, once you find the assisted living community you want, ask about the difference in pricing regarding room size or floor plan, and/or location in the community (view, balcony, etc.). You will need to factor in annual increases so be sure to ask what those have been over the last couple of years. Also, does the community require a deposit, move-in fee or community fees; and what type of notice does your parent need to give to move out?

At MorningStar at Mountain Shadows, a memory care community in Colorado Springs, we are happy to answer all your questions. To get you started, our website offers lots of details regarding suites, activities and amenities as well as a whole list of answers to FAQs. If you like what you see, contact us to set up a tour to see firsthand our beautiful community.

Finding the Best Assisted Living Community

August 12, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

A US News & World Report article discusses how to determine which assisted living community would be the best fit for you or a loved one. They explain that while there may be similarities between communities, upon closer scrutiny, each one will most likely have its own strengths and weaknesses. It is also a good idea to take into account things like personal preferences and location; and you may find it helpful to take a look at the checklist provided in the article.

To begin narrowing down the various communities, visit their websites to get answers to commonly asked questions. From there you can call to inquire about availability and pricing, and if the place sounds good, go ahead and book an in-person tour. While at the community, make the effort to speak to as many people as possible. Try to be there during an activity to see how engaged residents are, and join the group for lunch if you have the opportunity.

Furthermore, this is a good time to discuss the range of senior care options to determine if they can provide the level of care you need. Ask about policies regarding joining the community and what happens if it doesn’t work out. If there is a daily calendar of activities and events, ask for a copy. You will also want to know if they provide transportation for doctor’s appointments and other errands. If you do eat a meal, what did you think of the quality? Another thing to pay attention to is the cleanliness and smell of the community.

As mentioned earlier, location is important. Is assisted living convenient for your family and friends and close to your doctors and other personal services? When visitors do come, is there adequate parking? Is there a relaxing spot to sit outside when the weather is nice?

Now consider personal preferences. Does the size of the community matter to you? How does the list of amenities stack up to things you are interested in doing? For example, is an onsite salon important or do you enjoy spending time outdoors?  Would you like to attend services at an onsite chapel?

At MorningStar of Wheat Ridge, we offer exceptional senior living on the north side of Metro Denver close to medical facilities, shopping and other services. Assisted living suites are available in a variety of contemporary floorplans featuring high ceilings, large windows, handicap-accessible bathroom and emergency call system. We provide residents comprehensive care services along with luxury amenities, wellness programs and activities to enhance quality of life. For those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, we offer compassionate, all-inclusive care in our distinct Reflections Neighborhood. Please contact us or visit our website for more information.

Brain Games Help You Flex Your Mental Muscles

August 09, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Over the last couple of decades, researchers have found brain-training games may help improve attention levels, logic skills, and memory as well as enhance cognitive function in healthy subjects. Shaheen Lakhan, MD. Ph.D. FAAN, a physician-scientist and clinical development specialist and founding neurology department chair and curricular dean at California University of Science and Medicine writes the following: “The brain is just like a muscle – it thrives on exercise! As a neurologist, I’m thrilled by the incredible potential of brain games to help people flex their mental muscles, activating underused brain circuits to sharpen cognition and skills like focus, speed, and memory.”

Experts say effective brain games include Sudoku and crossword puzzles. With crossword puzzles, cognitive skills used include recollecting past verbal knowledge and memories. Sudoku relies on short-term memory, which is often one the first sign of Alzheimer’s, and requires the player to look ahead to plan out subsequent moves.

Android and iOS offer a number of apps for brain games that are either free, include in-app purchases or require a subscription to open up more games. One game is Elevate that centers on reading, writing, speaking and math; and allows you to customize training on areas you wish to focus on. Another game, Luminosity, was involved in a study that showed people who played the games for “15 minutes a day at least seven days a week for three weeks experienced improved attention and motor speed.”

Care Services at MorningStar’s Community in Colorado Springs

August 07, 2024 by Quinn A in Assisted Living

Families often wonder how assisted living communities such as MorningStar at Mountain Shadows determine the level of care for residents. We want to reassure you there is no need to worry mom or dad’s needs will not be addressed as our job includes creating and routinely re-evaluating residents’ individualized care plan designed for their wellbeing and safety.

Once you and your family decide MorningStar is the best fit, we invite you to meet with our Wellness Director to come up with a specialized care plan based on five levels of care – basic through level 4. Additionally, monthly fees are determined by the square footage and location of your suite within the building along with the view. We have a choice of studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom floorplans.

Our care services consider the cost and time of providing each service, such as assistance with dressing and bathing. The result is a highly Individualized Service Plan that offers the right amount of assistance when you need it. Medication management is available with two price points based on the number and type of prescriptions involved. Other various auxiliary services, both medical and non-medical, are priced a la carte.

We believe wellness of mind, body and spirit is a joint effort between our remarkable residents and team members. Between clinical services and our life enrichment programs and activities, we work hard to be a breath of fresh air; and look for creative solutions that offer a higher quality of care at a lower cost to families. Working within the scope of our licensing with the Department of Health, we try to find creative solutions to extend the stay of our residents even as health conditions change.

Along with assisted living, our Reflections Neighborhood provides care to those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. All team members complete thorough training including our signature program, Lavender Sky, to help residents and their families navigate this challenging journey.  Please contact us or visit our website for more information.
